ACCLAIM GAMES ANNOUNCES RE-DEVELOPMENT FOR “SPELLBORN�

BluFlash     Joined: 05 Nov 2008 Posts: 328	ACCLAIM GAMES ANNOUNCES RE-DEVELOPMENT FOR “SPELLBORNâ€� Los Angeles, CA (June 29, 2009) – Acclaim Games announces the re-development of their recent MMORPG The Chronicles of Spellborn which was released in February, 2009. The development is planned to carry into 2010 and will include several enhancements and changes to the current game. The enhancements and development of the new model will be carried through a joint venture between Spellborn NV and the development studio of Frogster Asia Co. Ltd. based in Seoul, the Korean studio bringing its expertise in the field of free-to-play and micro-transactions. After the re-development, the current subscription model will be switched to a free-to-play system supported by micro-transactions. This will open the world of Spellborn to all players and give them a chance to experience the rich lore and game-play in its entirety. Players who are currently playing the game will be able to continue playing the game in its current form via the subscription service. At the point where the new version is released, any unused subscriptions will be credited to their accounts. No offense but I'm not going to continue playing this game "in it's current form" until 2010 with no additional skill fixes or content additions, the only thing that kept me and my crew around was all the exciting content that was in the works. -Javelin

This means just what it says "At the point" which is lets say they go F2P in March 2010 and you have paid for that month or a month ahead. You will get a refund pro-rated for the month of March plus a full refund for the next months paid. There doesn't sound like there will be any retro pay for previous months. My only question is this? What can current "Paying players expect to see for the game between now and 2010 when it goes F2P?" I will be creating a separate thread for that!

uzihead     Joined: 22 Dec 2006 Posts: 3 Location: Romania	I guess those who created the game in such a "distastefull" way that wasn't on the Acclaim's taste are getting fired as we speak.... Well, for the guys at Spellborn International - You did a damn good job, with this game, in a European style, and I am sure you won't have problems finding new jobs. To bad your "baby" is going to the Great People of China, or Coreea, or Vietnam... or maybe some parts of code in India. Free 2 play is not the type of model for MMO that can build quality communities, so most of us, those who appreciated the game and recognized its potential, we'll have abandon it. Personally I am really disappointed that I have to do this. I am really, really sorry that the only MMO with almost unlimited potential from the last 3 years or so is doomed. I sure the Asia people will love it though. R.I.P.
