Instead of being so incisive, why not simply suggest that they make skin color an initial choice? (I'm pretty sure they will, since SDO lets you choose skin tone when you make a new character. They may have disabled it in the beta for simplicity's sake and will probably reactivate it later.) _________________ There are 10 types of people in the world: those that understand binary and those that don't. |

You should look at it as a compliment as being black is so awesome you have to pay for it. _________________

Black is an EXTRA feature. It makes your person look unique, so that is an EXTRA feature. Therefore, you having to PAY for it. (Or ask a friend to pay for it).

| As an optional character upgrade, we must put this in the item shop for players to acquire. This is the only way to offer the African-American heads. However, it should be EASILY accessible to all, so we made it just 1 POINT in the shop (which is basically for FREE). You don't have to spend any money to get it, just play the game and earn points. Thanks! |

I did not get to read what was originally said but some replies just enhance what I have thought over the two days I have been playing. I also thought wow I have to pay, albeit 1point it still should be a main feature as all skin tones should be.
Then to top it off I did not know how to access this feature until the next day, so basically was running around like a preppie looking britney spears then I stumbled across the map feature, and looking around found the stuff in the wardrobe, so as you can imagine there are a lot of surprised people today who see me with my new avatar, anyone who has a problem with that you know what you can do.
All I can say is I hope they get this game right if it is to be truly international.
Good luck |

Madamecoco, the black skin tone was not in the original game, and it was added in just recently. Have some patience for them to put it into the main setup of the game. There isnt even a setup to your character yet so you can't complain that its not in there, cause it doesnt exist! And you can't be mad at anyone but your self that you cant see the button in the top right that says "Shop". Because it is not required to enter the city to enter the shop zone. All I can say is your tone seems very hostile over 1 point and a little bit of effort on your part. This game is not fully released yet so if you want a totally completed game with all the flashy flashies implenented you will not find that here just yet. The only advice I sincerely have for you is have a little bit of patience please. _________________

| Hostile? you do not know me well enough to make such a statement. I was talking about my experience of the game play. I found the shop fine, and bought as I said the items, what I did not know is where to find them etc. that is all no hostility and thanks for misinterpreting my post. |

And as I said, "seems" hostile. Dont even attempt to criticize my misinterpreting when you clearly can't even interpret what "seems" was intended to mean. If you want a war with interpreting and debating by all means send me a PM, I guarantee your defeat. You'll soon come to learn the never ending cockyness that is Sorrex! Bahahaha!
And please do share your tone you had in mind for "anyone who has a problem with that you know what you can do.". With no emotion icons, how would you interpret that? So my advice to you, add some emotion to your posts instead of being an emotionless robot! <--you see that, thats emotion baby. Use the power! _________________

Madamecoco, you need to remember that there are no tonal inflections to indicate any form of sarcasm, distress, anger, etc. in forum posts. When you make a post with a lot of inflammatory comments and assume everyone automatically knows what you mean, you're going to set yourself up for a fall.
While your input is nice, your tone sounded very harsh and judgmental. Remember that tact is everything on the Internet, and just be careful. But, no hard feelings, I hope? _________________ There are 10 types of people in the world: those that understand binary and those that don't. |

Guys, now now now. Could we stop this rage and argument? I'll explain before this thread goes crazy. THE REASON, there is no available choice at the moment is because, being white doesn't necessarily have to represent you color in game. To change your skin color in the game, IS a special feature. It makes you STAND OUT. Therefore, your going to have to pay for an extra feature. Maybe in full release, there will be a bit more leeway, but for now you have to stick with what you got and test the game, and don't worry so much about your character they're going to be wiped regardless. No, need of stress we will be holding competitions for some Acclaim cash. Don't you worry, there will be many many opportunities to win Acclaim Coins. But remember, patience is a virtue! Thanks for your understanding. We didn't mean for this to be a racial bash. But the default skin tone we have in DANCE! is white. If you want something extra your going to have to pay. Nothing in life is free. The original user of this thread, hasn't even taken the time to post anything anyways. So what are we arguing about??

I do not use emoticons, but thank you for your advice.
The bit about if anyone not liking it they know what they can do, refers to anyone who has, any problem whatsoever with me being black, of which there are many, whether you like it or not, it is a fact, so those are the people I was referring to and there are no emoticons for that.
The use of the word 'hostile' was strange to me as I would have used frustrated, but I am thinking that maybe Sorrex your judgement of my post, was coloured by the initial post? of which, unfortunately, I did NOT get to see in its entirety, so on that I cannot comment, I was merely posting about MY first few days, and how I found it, and it was both fun and frustrating.
Thank you for your invitation to PM you for a 'debate' but on this occasion I shall decline.
Thank you for your reply post coasterguy26, the explanation about the who and the why in terms of this feature is clear. My response was due to the comment about my post being hostile that’s all, not an argument.

Sorry coaster. I honestly I never post in rage and argument. Well I guess you could possibly say argument. I'm just naturally addicted to debating and conflict. Its just such an enjoyable hobby. _________________

Skin color should NOT be an option you have to pay for. This single "feature" could very well kill Dance! here in the USA. Equality is what it is all about and if you start making people have to pay to use their own skin color, even if it is one point, you are segregating them in two ways:
1) you are making non-white people have to pay for their skin color which is not fair in the least
2) you are potentailly sending a signal that white is normal and everyone else is special (as actually said in this thread)
Neither of those two points are acceptable. Once parents and activist groups get wind of this, you can expect a hellstorm. When the first non-white child tells his mom he can't be *insert a normal human skin tone here* you can bet an Anti-Acclaim/Anti-Dance! movement to begin.
Sound silly? If it does, than you are either too young to understand or do not know the way things work here in the States.
If you allow crazy colors like green, blue, purple, etc, THOSE I can see having to pay for but real human shades should not cost a single point or unlock.
Just my two cents. |
